Shane Heidt scored 21 points and hit six 3-pointers as Clinton Central came away with a 58-44 victory at Delphi on Tuesday.

Clinton Central coach Joe Smith said the game hinged on his team's ability to play a complete game.

"I thought we were steady the whole game," he said. "That really helped us with our defensive effort."

The Bulldogs only allowed 19 points in the second half, including seven in the decisive fourth quarter.

"We were very patient defensively and we didn't gamble and give them easy shots," Smith said. "We made them take a lot of time on possessions. It's nice when you have the lead and they're taking a lot of time off the clock."

Clinton Central held a 30-25 lead at halftime and a 47-37 margin after three quarters. Contributing to Central's balanced effort offensively was Matt Leighty and Dylan Padgett, scoring 11 points apiece. Jordan Henry added seven, Evan Pohl four points, and Landon Plough and Caleb Simmons tallied two points apiece.

Smith said Heidt shot with a lot of confidence.

"He shot threes that weren't forced," Smith said. "He let the pass come to him off dribble passes from teammates. He got his feet set and when you do that, good things are going to happen."
