North Putnam's golf team flexed its muscles at the Covington
Invitational over the weekend. The Cougars took top honors at the eight team
event by nine strokes over the nearest competitor. North Putnam posted a score
of 332 in winning the event.
The key to this victory was consistency. North Putnam put
all five players in the 80”s for the day. Jeremy Redman led the way with an 91,
followed closely by Aaron Vondersaar and J.J. Burns with 82’s. Austin Malayer
and Patrick Byrd both finished with 87”s.
Covington and Attica tied for second in the meet with 341. Covington's effort
included a 78 by Dane Dudley which tied with Fountain central’s Wesley Fishero
for medalist honors.
The remainder of the field found Benton Central in fourth
with 343, Fountain Central in fifth with 358, followed by North
Montgomery, Seeger and South Putnam.
