Chapelgate girls lacrosse midfielders Kylie Ramsland and Rachel Mercier are headed for Cincinnati, and Esther Rufolo is bound for Mount St. Mary's in accordance with a release by the girls' athletic program to DigitalSports.
Ramsland, also a four-year varsity soccer player who led that team to IAAM C Conference titles as a freshman and sophomore, was a member of an IAAM C conference lacrosse champion as a freshman.
As a freshman and last year, Ramsland was the top scorer for her team and has 176 career goals and 62 career assists. A member of the National Honor Society, Ramsland, last year, scored 64 goals and assisted on 30 others.
Rufolo began playing lacrosse at the age of 6 for the Catonsville Lacrosse Club, and, like Ramsland, was a member of the IAAM C Conference lacrosse titlist as a freshman -- a year during which Chapelgate experienced its first-ever winning season.
Rufolo was named a Yellowjackets' team captain last season, and will be so again this coming spring.
Rufolo, who recently signed a national letter of intent to play for Mt. St. Mary’s Division I program, said, "It’s been quite a journey."
Mercier has played lacrosse for seven years, beginning in middle school for Catonsville Rec.
A varsity starter as a freshman, Mercier also was a member of the Yellowjackets' title-winning team that year.
"We have since moved to the B conference," said Mercier. "Participation on this team has opened many doors such as forming friendships. The most important door that opened for me is the opportunity to play Division I next year."
