We played 3 games this week winning 2 and losing 1. We had lots of tricks up our sleeves and were able to come out on top on but 1 game.

GAME 1 - CAL vs. JCTMS

This was a big win for us. Tensions, tempers (not ours), excitement, frustration and baseball at its highest intensity ruled this game. We began the game down 1-0 after the first inning on a sacrifice fly by JCTMS. Inning 2 Jordan Jennings throws a spectacular bullet from behind the plate to catch a potential base stealer and deny them 2nd base. Our turn at bat and Charlie Batuello walks, then steals second. Cody Davis legs out a bunt to advance Batuello to 3rd and stay on 1st himself. Aaron Wood sacrifice bunts so Batuello can score and moves Davis to 3rd. While Zac Passafiume bats Davis draws a balk to score from 3rd. Daniel Aroh shoots a whammer of a double with 2 outs and we finish inning 2 in the lead 2 to 1.

Inning 3 Charlie Batuello and Andrew Viola make an exceptional double play to end the inning for JCTMS. Inning 4 JCTMS shoots a major hit over Batuello's head but Nate Smith later makes a beautiful double play on a line drive to end the inning although JCTMS has tied the score 2-2.

You could hear the grass growing and the dust flying. TENSION was HIGH with the game tied. Inning 6 Daniel Aroh makes a perfect catch in right field and fires the ball to third denying the runner an advance from 2nd to 3rd. This ends the 6th inning for JCTMS. Our turn to the plate and Nick Stone belts a double with a whopper of a head first slide into 2nd base. Stone ends up stealing home to give us the lead 3-2. We in the stands thought that won the game for us; little did we know there was to be a 7th inning (thought we only played 6- WRONG!). However, the 7th inning, while POWERFUL for the minds and hearts, brought no more runs for either team AND WE DEFEATED JCTMS 3-2. THIS WAS THE SEASON HIGHLIGHTER so far. The boys did a great job! Their coach was not happy to say the least.

GAME 2 - CAL vs KAMMERER

We played two games this Saturday the 10th of May. Kammerer was a tough opponent for us. We were just not able to keep them contained and they beat us 11-6. We debuted our "trick play" this game and our pitcher was able to fake out a throw to a base from the mound, Cody Davis and Nate Smith pretended to miss the ball at 2nd and Charlie Batuello in center field would run to the fence pretending to go after a missed ball. The runner would think the ball was in the outfield and try to advance easily and our pitcher would just walk up and touch the runner and tag him out. It really awestruck almost everyone, especially the runners we tagged out - twice I might say. Our play was tough and steady with Cody Davis, Rider Sparrow and Aaron Wood all trying to stop Kammerer from the mound. It was a scorcher this afternoon and with this loss our hopes of being the 1st place seed in the post-season tournament were washed away. Guess God wants us at the 4th place seed.

GAME 3 - CAL vs Highland

This was our second game today and we had to rush from J-town fields to OUR OWN HOME FIELD at CAL in a 30 minute span to get to this game. We were able to relax a little and have some less stressful fun here. Coach Viola was able to play some of the players that didn't get to play as much this season - GOOD MOVE STEVE! This game was high on scoring for CAL. Eric Lesmeister and Allen Davis Sinnott got bang up hits scoring runners. We had many steals of home plate. Cody Davis made a great double play with Rider Sparrow kicking Cody the ball, Cody stepping on 2nd and rocketing a throw to 1st for a very pretty double play. Nolan Holden got on base and played well this game. We were able to throw a pizza party for us and Highland. We provided drinks and pizza with Highland as well as a prayer and really tried to us our home field as a place to share the love of Jesus with others. We won the game 20-3 but showed them what really matters - loving others.

ON TO TOURNAMENT play. We are still waiting to see when we will play this week but are pretty sure we are the 4th place seed. GREAT COACHING FROM LONNIE DAVIS AND STEVE VIOLA. LETS GO BOYS - TIME TO SHINE FOR THE LORD AND GIVE HIM THE GLORY THIS WEEK. PLAY TOUGH!!!
