Atlee Girls Soccer Takes Title
Atlee's Jordan Roseboro and
Kristin Lescalleet each scored twice to help lead their team to the Capital District girls soccer title on Thursday night.
The Raiders, who earned the first-seed in the tournament, defeated second-seed
Lee-Davis 5-1 in the final.
"I think this is the fullest and complete game we have played,"
Lescalleet said. "As for regionals, we are moving at the right pace
right now and we are peaking, so thats a good thing."
Atlee came out ready to win in the first half, as they took a 4-0 lead heading into the half.
In the second half, Lescalleet scored her second goal of the match off of a free kick, putting the Raiders up by five.
Capital District player of the year,
Kimmy Cummings of Lee-Davis, scored the Confederates only goal of the game, when she riffled a shot from 18 yards out into the side netting.
Atlee will now play host to the
Cosby Titans of the Dominion District in the Central Region tournament beginning on Tuesday.
Lee-Davis will head to
James River to play the Dominion District champion Rapids.

Boys Soccer Crown Goes To Atlee
Atlee High School proved that they can play soccer.
Immediately following the trophy presentation for the Atlee girls soccer team for winning the Capital District title, the boys soccer team went out and won one of their own.
Atlee defeated
Lee-Davis 3-1 in the boys soccer championship held at
Hanover High School Thursday night.
Ben Anderson scored two goals to help lead Atlee to the win.
Matt Pennington had a goal as well for the Raiders in the victory.
The Confederates only goal of the match came from
Eduardo Lopez.
Atlee will now host
James River, runner's up in the Dominion District, in the Central Region tournament on Tueday.
Lee-Davis will travel to play the Dominion District champions,
Cosby, on Tuesday.

Lee-Davis Brings Home Softball Championship
Lee-Davis, the second-seed in the Capital District tournament, defeated first-seed
Hanover 4-3 to win the Capital District title on Thursday night.
The Confederates, after being down a run in the first inning, came back in the top of the second to take the lead.
Hanover managed to tie the game at three in the bottom of the second inning on Capital District player of the year
Courtney Long's RBI single.
Lee-Davis regained the lead in the top of the fifth to go up 4-3 on the Hawks.
In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on first and second and two outs, Lee-Davis pitcher
Melanie Hazelwood struck out the Hawks batter giving Lee-Davis the title.
"I was so ready to come in and pitch," Hazelwood said. "I love coming into pressure situations. I wanted to shut them down and we did, we all did."

Hanover Rolls to Baseball Title
Hanover was crowned as Capital District champions on Thursday night.
The first-seeded Hawks defeated the third-seeded
Henrico Warriors 6-1 in the Capital District baseball finals.
Hanover senior pitcher
Aaron Adkins pitched a complete game throwing for 8 strikeouts.
Junior short stop
Beau Flinchum went 2 for 3 for the Hawks with a double, and junior second baseman
Laine Denton had a double and two RBI.

Landon Prentiss and and
Seth Cutler-Voltz all went 1 for 3 for the Warriors.
