There's nothing wrong with going back home.

That's pretty much what Hanover volleyball standout Katie Hudencial is doing, signing her National Letter of Intent Tuesday morning to play for Regis University in Denver, Colo.

"I was really familiar with the school because when I was little I went to camps there," said Hudencial, an all-DigitalSports setter. "I knew the coaching staff was really good.

"The head coach, Frank Lavrisha, coached the junior national team, which [Hanover teammate and Penn State signee] Kristin [Carpenter] played for."

Hudencial and her parents, Ferdinand and Myra, came to Richmond before Katie's sophomore season.

She was the missing piece Hanover needed.

It also gave room for the talented player to spread her wings, leaving an eventual three-time 5A state champion in Grand View in Colorado, an ultra-competitive team to get on the court for.

It all led to her being scooped up by a Division II, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference powerhouse.

"We obviously peaked in our sophomore year," Hudencial said, referring to the Hawks' state title appearance. "We really accomplished a lot this year since we lost Chelsea [Coward].

"It was definitely a good experience. It was definitely different from what I would have had in Colorado."

Now what kind of experience will she have in Colorado?
