PATRIOT NATION . . . Scratch and Claw All Seven has been our team mantra all year.  Despite being down 2-0 in the 5th inning of a suspended game that we were playing on the second day at a different field, our boys scratched and clawed out a 3-2 victory to earn the final berth to the State Tournament.  Our game yesterday was suspended due to rain in the 5th and we completed it today at a different field because the primary field was unavailable.  Pitching and defense wins championships and we displayed both of those characteristics today.  Following John McLeod’s 4 inning 3 hit scoreless outing yesterday, Dan Eck threw a three inning 2 hit gem giving up one earned run (McLeod was charged with the other earned run as he left a runner on firstbase when the game was suspended and that runner came around to score on one of the hits Eck gave up today). Dan retired the last seven outs consecutively.  Troy Colyer provided the offense highlights going 2-3 with a three run home run to win the ball game.  Cameron Talley made several third strike block-and-throws to first base to retire outs in critical spots.  This trip to state marks the first time Liberty has been to the tournament since 2005, when we advanced to the elite 8 round.  We play 1 PM Saturday May 23rd in Centralia at Wheeler Field against Timberline.  If we win we play again at 4PM against either Auburn-Mountainview or Bishop Blanchet.  Hope to see you on the diamond in Centralia this Saturday!
It’s a great day to be a Patriot!!!
