by CJ Malinowskicjm@digitalsports.comThe Edgewood Rams’ field hockey team squeaked by the Havre de Grace Warriors Friday 1-0 in a post-overtime win.
After a scoreless first and second half, both teams went into the overtime period looking to come away with the tight win, but it was Edgewood who would have the last chance at the win.
With time expiring in the overtime period, the Warriors committed a penalty that led to a Rams’ corner. By rule, the Rams had the right to play the penalty corner even though the time had expired in the period.
On the corner, Rams’ Hollie Henrichs found a pass and put it past Havre de Grace goalie Rachel Gawlik for the game winner.
Gawlik had a great performance despite the goal, racking up nine saves in the game.
Edgewood will play Aberdeen Wednesday and Havre e Grace will take on Bel Air Monday.
