Smith's game-high 19 points carry Admirals

Gilman School dropped to 1-2 in MIAA B Conference play, losing to Severn School, 58-46, in Anne Arundel County Saturday afternoon. Greg McBride had 16 points for Gilman, and Jeff Irwin contributed 13.

Severn (5-1 overall) held the Greyhounds (3-7, 1-2) scoreless until a Brandon Copeland's three-pointer, 40 seconds into the second quarter. Admirals' senior forward Marvin Smith came off the bench and scored 19 points. Gilman returns to action Thursday for the 11th annual Bristow Holiday Tournament at home, playing Western Tech in the nightcap at 8. Loyola Blakefield plays Patterson in the opener at 6:15 p.m. The Admirals play Owings Mills at Northeast Holiday Tournament Thursday. The Admirals will play either Northeast or Resevoir in consolation or championship round Friday evening.
