The Glenelg Country School boys varsity basketball team got a great victory over a tough Gilman team on Tuesday night.
"It was the first victory in our schools history over Gilman, in any sport at any level," said Dragon's head coach Charlie Stewart. "Needless to say, it was a nice win for our basketball program and our school and runs our conference record to 3-4 and keeps us in the hunt for a playoff spot in our first year in the MIAA B Conference."
The balanced scoring attack of the Dragons (12-9 overall, 3-4 B conference) was too much for the Greyhounds (6-11, 3-4), as four players for Glenelg hit double digits. The team was led by the hot shooting of sophomore guard Brian Gibbons. Gibbons drilled 7 three pointers on the night and ended with a game high 22 points. Senior swing-man Evan Williams dominated the interior and ended with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Junior guard Tim Schenk had 12 points and sophomore guard Justin Johnson finished with 11. The Dragons were blistering from beyond the arc and ended the game with 12 three pointers and also went 21-27 from the line.
Glenelg travels to Archbishop Curley tonight,Wednesday, to take on the hot Friars, who are coming off a great victory over St. Marys.
