Head coach Tom Rose has guided Mount Carmel to a 10-1 start this season

No. 18 Mount Carmel, possibly the most under-rated team area, continued to make a case for itself last night, as the Cougars traveled to Laurel and claimed a 67-60 win over MIAA B Conference rival St. Vincent Pallotti.  The victory not only allowed Mount Carmel to move to 3-0 in the league, but it became the first MIAA club, on any level, to reach 10 wins this season.

It was another big night for future Towson Tiger Troy Franklin, who abused the Panthers for 23 points, eight rebounds, two assist, three steals and two blocks.

Mount Carmel, led by head coach Tom Rose, battled its way to a 39-30 halftime lead and held off every Pallotti challenge the rest of the way.

Stanfor McNair and Rummell King each scored 10 points in the victory and combined for 13 rebounds.  In addition Dwayne Wheeler and Marcanthony Franks combined for 17 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.

The Cougars, who have already won two tournaments this year and finished second in another, will be Annapolis next week for the famed Capital City Classic at Annapolis High School.  Their first game will be on Thursday, at 5:00 pm, when the face Patapsco of Baltimore County.

Pallotti (2-5 overall), which has earned a top playoff seed in each of the past three years, finds itself in the unusual position of being off to a slow start in the B Conference, where it is now 1-3.  Erick Washington led the Panthers last night with 13 points.
