Michael Adams scored a second-half goal and Thomas Philibin increased his school-record total with his ninth shutout of the season as the visiting Patuxent Panthers slipped by the sixth-seeded Calvert Cavaliers 1-0 in a 2A South first-round clash on Friday night.

Adams, off of a feed from midfielder Marc Elder, scored seven minutes into the second half to break the scoreless tie. Philibin made nine saves to preserve the hard-fought victory and move the No. 11-seed Panthers (9-5-1) into the regional quarterfinals at third-seeded Central on Tuesday.
