The Patuxent Panthers downed the Central Falcons (Prince George's County) in overtime, 1-0, to advance to the 2A South Region Semifinal on a cold, windy Tuesday afternoon.

Seven minutes into the overtime period, Andrew Ragusa drove a corner kick toward the near post.  The ball fell to the feet of Brandon Milcarzyk, who kicked it in at the far post to end the match.

The two teams played completely different styles, with Patuxent trying to connect short passes and build an attack through the midfield and Central launching long balls over the midfield.

The Panthers had a chance to score in the 30th minute, when Michael Adams was tripped in the penalty area.  Ragusa's attempted penalty shot went high, striking the crossbar and flying out of danger.

The Falcons pressed their attack in the second half, with a powerful shot by Towfik Kedir forcing a flying save by Patuxent goalkeeper Thomas Philibin, who earned his tenth shutout.

Patuxent (9-5-1) will face the winner of the River Hill-North Point match, tentatively scheduled for Friday.
