Walter Johnson defeated Whitman, 3-1, Wednesday night at Whitman, spoiling the Vikings’ shot at a division crown.
The win lifts Walter Johnson to a 9-3 record. The Wildcats have won three straight games to end the regular season and have only lost to Poolesville, Quince Orchard and Bethesda-Chevy Chase.
The Vikings, who received news just the day earlier that captain Maya Herm was named by US Field Hockey to it's Futures program, fall to 7-5.
With Whitman’s loss, Quince Orchard (9-2-1) wins their division. The Cougars are on a four-game win streak, including a 3-1 victory over defending WCAC champion Good Counsel on Tuesday, and have one game left in the regular season against Bethesda-Chevy Chase on Thursday.
