Greene leads four double-digit scorers for Towson Catholic and coach Josh Pratt
After a tough time at the Gonzaga (D.C.) Classic last weekend, Towson Catholic got back to its winning ways. The Owls defeated St. John's Catholic Prep 67-61, in a MIAA A Conference game Friday evening.
Senior center Brandon Greene scored 20 points and junior Leshon Edwards added 13 for the Owls (3-5, 1-1). Six foot, six inch junior Troy King led St. John's Catholic (2-4, 0-4) with a game-high 26.
It was the second straight victory for the defending MIAA A and Baltimore Catholic League champions, who lost to John Carroll in their league opener Dec. 11 before dropping decisions to Bishop Loughlin (N.Y.) and Bishop McNamara at the Gonzaga tourney. The Owls finished seventh with a 49-40 victory over All Hallows (N.Y.), snapping a four-game losing streak.
Senior guard Larry Bastfield and Vinnie Breckenridge each had 11 for the Owls, who will play Kempsville (VA) Friday in the opening round of the National bracket at the Bay Ball Classic in Delaware. St. John's Catholic will play Norcom (VA) in the National Division opening round at the Stop-DWI Holiday Classic in Binghamton, New York Friday at 2:45 p.m.
