ST. TIMOTHY'S CAPTURES TOWSON CATHOLIC SOCCER TOURNAMENT WITH PAIR OF 4-0 WINS

Turn-around team is 3-0 after going 0-24 past two seasons

New Head Coach Glenn Quinn has certainly turned around the soccer program at St. Timothy??s, and in short time at that.  St. Tim??s posted bookend 4-0 wins over host Towson Catholic on Friday and Western Tech on Saturday to capture the TC Tournament in Towson.

ST had gone 0-11 in 2005 and then 0-13 last year for at least a 24-game losing streak, maybe more dating back to 2004.  But so far this year has been quite different.

Quinn??s squad (3-0, 1-0) won its opener on Thursday with a 2-0 blanking of Mount Carmel, and then added the latest two wins at TC to make it a three-day sweep, outscoring the trio of opponents 10-0 in the process.

In the championship game versus Western Tech, Puopolo added a pair of goals, and Charlotte Nagey and Senait Debesu had one apiece.

Sophomore Sheila Anthony anchored the stingy defense with 11 saves versus TC and then eight more in the title match.  She and her fellow defenders have yet to allow an goal.  Anthony even chipped in with an assist on Saturday.

Puopolo, Lackey and Lichtenberg were all named to the All-Tournament team.

Towson Catholic defeated Owings Mills, 1-0 in overtime, in the consolation match.

St. Tim??s will look to make it 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the C-Conference when it hosts Glenelg Country on Friday.
