South Riding (June 24, 2009) - The Freedom High School athletic department announced the hiring Wednesday of Derek Gaunt as the Eagles new head varsity boys basketball coach.  

"Coach Gaunt has served as the freshman boys basketball since 2007 and is employed by the city of Alexandria Police Department," said new Freedom Athletic Director Matt Oblas in a release.

The Freedom boys basketball program opens the 2009-2010 season at Brentsville District High School on Dec. 2, 2009.  

The Freedom boys basketball summer camp is scheduled for July 20-24 and is operated by Loudoun County Parks and Recreation Services.  Information is available on the Loudoun County Parks and Recreation website.
