Slugging catcher Kieran Flannery poked a two-run homer in the first inning to give St. Vincent Pallotti a quick 2-0 lead, which it would eventually extend to 4-0, but host Dematha rallied for five runs in the bottom of sixth and held on for a 7-6 victory, Monday at Riverdale Park.

Pallotti got an RBI base hit from Kevin Hughes, in the third, and Pat MacNaught drove in run number four, in the fourth, to give the Panthers a 4-0 lead.

Dematha got a two-run shot of its own, off the bat of Mike Perez in the bottom of the fourth, to make it 4-2. The Stags then batted around in the fifth-inning surge, as the heart of the lineup strung together several clutch hits to drive Flannery from the mound.

The Panthers battled back, as Guy Stefanelli whacked a two-run homer in the top of the seventh, but Nikolay Uherek held on to secure the win for Dematha.  The Stags were coming off a tough 4-3 loss to Calvert Hall, on Saturday.

Coach Pat Courtemanche's Panthers lost their fourth in a row, but they have played well against tough competition in each contest.
