Kamehameha-Kapalama started off strong and was able to hold on to a see-saw battle to defeat the Kahuku Red Raiders 62-57 in 1st Round action of the Hawaiian Airlines Boys D-II State Tournament.
The Warriors advance to play #2 Seed Konawaena Thursday at 6:00p at Jim Allegere Gymnasium at Radford High School.  Kahuku plays n the consolation game at 4:00p.

This was a big night for Warrior Blake Viena who came off the bench to score 15 points.  Most of which were on the receiving end of assists from point guard Brandon Dumlao.

The Warriors got off to a quick start and an early lead in the 1st quarter.  In the middle of the 2nd period, Jray Galeai nailed 3 consecutive 3-point field goals as the Red Raiders took the lead after an 11-2 run.  This lead will hold true until late in the 3rd period.

In the 2nd half, Galeai suffered an ankle injury early in the 3rd quarter which proved to be crucial for Kahuku.  Toward the end of the 3rd, Chaz Bajet knocked down a trey from the right wing that sporked the Warrior offense that had been dormant since the 2nd period.

Kamehameha would regain the lead and hold on for the victory.

Galeai led the Red Raiders with 11 points before the injury.
