Kellen Imada rushed for three touchdowns and Jarrett Arakawa completed his first 11 passes to lead 'Iolani to a 28-6 win over Word of Life yesterday.
An afternoon homecoming crowd of about 2,000 at Kozuki Stadium saw the Raiders improve to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II. Word of Life fell to 2-9, 0-8.
"We just came off playing the 'big three,' so that took a toll on the confidence," said 'Iolani coach Wendell Look of having played the ILH's Division I teams. "We came out and did what we needed to do, both offensively and defensively."
The Raiders, ranked 9th in The Advertiser's Top 10 poll, had clinched the ILH Division II championship and the league's lone state tournament berth before yesterday's game.
"This game was important (despite previously clinching), because we needed to regain that confidence and get back to playing well," Look said.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Raiders.
