McDonogh graduate Andrew Feinberg, a sophomore at Brown University, scored six times with an assist, Penn State-bound Matt MacKrides of Philadelphia's Malvern Prep scored five times with one assist, Princeton sophomore Jack McBride had four goals and two assists, Craig Dowd scored twice with five assists, and Ryan Young, once with four assists as the U.S. Men's Under-19 Team routed Japan, 27-0, in the International Lacrosse Federation championships in Coquitlam, British Columbia on Saturday.
The defending champion U.S. team previously had beaten Iroquois and Austrailia and is 32-0 in the tournament, having also received two goals from Severn graduate Nick Elsmo, a University of Virginia sophomore, one goal from Gilman graduate and sophomore Brown defender Peter Fallon, and an assist from Johns' Hopkins sophomore and Loyola graduate Tim Donovan.
The shutout was the first in the U.S. Team's history, according to the U.S. Lacrosse website, with the previous record for margin of victory being by 26 goals in a game being totaled in their 30-4 victory over Japan in 1996.
McDonogh graduate Tyler Fiorito, who is bound for Princeton, made five saves in the second half.
The tournament began on Thursday, and will continue through July 12.
