Breakdown: Playoff experience never hurts. And that's what the Lions got last season.  In addition, the Lions return a number of players who can channel that experience into yet another playoff run in Class 2A West.

The foundation of the Lions' spread offense will be Ethan Dorsey running behind Patrick Robinson and Bo Beall. Robinson and Beall were each named second-team All-Conference, and Dorsey earned All-County first-team honors.

Jeff Shea, a second-team All-County honoree, will contribute on both sides of the ball.

The big push for the Lions will be to navigate the Blue Ridge Division, where they posted a 3-1 record and tied Francis Scott Key for the crown.

Of course, the graduation of quarterback Colton Weaver will be a difficult spot to replace. Weaver  finished with more than 5,100 career passing yards. Liberty entered summer passing tournaments  in order to get an early look at the three possible quarterback candidates for the fall.

A loss to South Carroll was the Lions' lone loss in the division, which also includes South Carroll,  Century and Winters Mill.
