On a Friday afternoon, long before nightfall on the Fourth of July, 11-year-old Columbia resident Reshaun Scott and two of his friends treated the DigitalSports' cameras to their own brand of old school fireworks.
Scott and two of his buddies threw a football around while working up an appetite for a cookout being prepared by their elders, including Scott's grandmother.
In between their receptions and razzle-dazzle displays of offensive formations, Scott took time to speak with DigitalSports about his recent season with the Columbia Ravens, during which he rushed for 521 yards and scored 16 touchdowns as a running back, corner back and punt returner.
Scott, who will graduate from the 8-to-10 age group into that of the 9-to-11s starting in the fall, also expressed his admiration for Wake Forest-bound Michael Campanaro of River Hill, who will try to lead the Hawks to their second straight Class 2A state title starting in the fall.
Campanaro "is very elusive, very strong, and he has speed, and he's an impact player for River Hill," said Scott, displaying a gift of gab that was equally as impressive as his gift of grab. "And I think he's going to do some big things for Wake Forest."
