Southern High School athletic director Tedd Gott named Paul Daley as the school's new boys soccer coach this week.

"Paul is from the community and will bring stability to a program with four head coaches in four years," Gott said. "He will create a culture where striving to be the best is important as well as learning valuable life lessons."

Daley, 50, is a Lothian resident and has been coaching some form of soccer for over 15 years. He was the junior-varsity head coach at Severna Park last season, he spent a year at Annapolis Area Christian and is has been involved in the girls club soccer scene.

"I got to meet some of the players and I've been extremely impressed," said Daley, whose two daughters will attend Southern. "I'm just really excited to give back to the community and build a strong program here."

Daley replaces former coach Dave Lefcourt, who led the Bulldogs (8-8) to an appearance in the Class 2A East Region quarterfinals.
