Calvert Hall's Mike Helou was named Tournament MVP, as Calvert Hall won its fourth Eastern Prep water polo title in the last five years.
MIAA water polo dynasty Calvert Hall, one week removed from another MIAA championship, took on some of the finest programs on the east coast, last weekend, and swept three games to claim the 2007 Eastern Prep Championships, in Lawrenceville, NJ.

In besting an eight team field, the Cardinals won the title for the fourth time in five years.  Along the way, Calvert Hall defeated Episcopal Prep (PA), 12-5, in the opening round, arch-rival Loyola Blakefield 13-7, in the semifinals and host Lawrenceville Prep, 10-7, in the Championship Game.

Seniors Mike Helou, Arny Warren, and Dan Kaun were selected to the 1st-Team "All Prep" squad and Mike Helou was the tournament MVP.

Before falling to the Cardinals for the fourth time this fall, Loyola opened the tourhament with a 13-11 win over Hill School (PA).  The Dons also lost the 3rd-place consolation game, 7-5, to Penn Charter.

Two Loyola players made the All-Tournament Team: Junior Tyler Thein and sophomore Tyler Elfert.

Mount St. Joseph also represented the MIAA at the event and the Gaels were winless in three games.  St. Joe opened with 14-4 loss to Lawrencville, followed by an 11-8 defeat against Haverford (PA) and a narrow, 6-5, loss to Episcopal.

Next up for Calvert Hall is the Eastern Championships, where the Cardinals (24-1) hope to avenge their only loss of the 2007 season, as they expect to see powerful Greenwich High School (CT) in this battle bragging rights and the title "Best High School Water Polo Team in the East."
