State runners-up Brian Marcoux (125), Danny Bichner (135), Chris Stinnett (140) and third-place state finisher Brendan Conway (119) all pinned their title-bout rivals, third-place state finisher Tim Chase (152) earned a 6-4 decision over Calvert of Calvert County's Pat Bearry, and county champ Alex Hufnagel (160) was second, with Zach Gerber (103) and Derek Patrick (285) taking third and fourth, respecively, as Glenelg won its Class 2A-1A South Regional Tournament at Oakland Mills and qualified eight wrestlers for next weekend's Class 2A-1A state tournament at the University of Maryland's Cole Field House.

Conway piinned all three of his tournament rivals; Marcoux had a pin and one decision; Bichner sandwiched pins around a forfeit; and Stinnett also had three pins for the Gladiators, who finished with 185 points compared to second place Calvert with 164.

For Calvert, which also has eight wrestlers headed for states, Jeff Tolbert (160) edged Hufnagel for first place, 10-8, in overtime, Berry, Stephen Cannatella (285) and Jake Ridgeway (171) were second, the latter after losing, 18-16, in overtime to Randy Farrell of Patuxent; Nathan Jaimie (140) and Danny Brickner (215) were third, and Danny Wilkins (125), A.J. Moran (130),  were fourth.

Third-place Oakland Mills of Howard County was led by champions Jovan Saunders (145) and Mike Santiago (285), with the latter rising to 32-0 on his 27th, 28th and 29th pins in 0:39, 0:59 and 3:34.

River Hill freshman Cameron Kirby (103) and returning state champion Scott Mantua (112) each won titles, with Evan Shebel (125) and Nathan White (130) finishing third, and Sean Kirby (135), fourth.,

The surprise of the tournament, however, was Surrattsville's sophomore 130-pounder Joseph Rollins, who never had wrestled before his freshman
season, when he lost only  twice but missed weight for the Class 2A-1A South Regional.

Rollins, who is 18-0, handled state runner-up Nathan White, 12-6 in the semifinals, and outsted third-place finisher and regional champ, Tanner Wrublik, 5-4 for his crown.

Patuxent's Andrew Lloyd (189) and Surrattsville's Prince George's County champ, Andrew Johnson, were the only other champions.
