BALTIMORE
(May 22, 2008) - Under Armour and Corrigan Sports Enterprises announced the
2008 class of Under Armour Lacrosse All-Americans, which recognize 44 of the
nation’s best high school boys’ and girls’ senior lacrosse players. The boys’
and girls’ North versus South All-American games headline the 2008 Under Armour
Lacrosse Classic at Towson University’s Johnny Unitas Stadium on Saturday, July
12. The boys’ game will be televised live on ESPNU at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
This year
will also feature an expanded underclassmen tournament with teams from Baltimore,
New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. The Underclassmen Girls’ and
Boys’ Championships will be played at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., respectively,
followed by the Girls’ All-America Game at 6:00 p.m. In addition, a full day of
events is scheduled for attendees, beginning with the STX Lacrosse Youth Clinic
at 9:00 a.m.
“In just
three years, the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic has become a major
annual event in the world of lacrosse,” said Steve Battista, Senior Vice
President, Brand, Under Armour. “The game has introduced fans to the country’s
best high school lacrosse players, and we remain committed to supporting the
development of young lacrosse players.”
The 2008
Classic features 88 players from 14 states, including players from as far as
Arizona, California, and Colorado. With 26 players, New York has the most
participants, followed closely by Maryland with 25 players. The boys’ North
team has been victorious in the first two years of the event, while the girls’
South team evened up the series at one each by winning last year’s game.
