Coach Of The Year

Dave Ytreboe - Toms River North. Coming into the season, Toms River North would have been one of those "sleeper" teams to keep an eye on. The Mariners are in the mix year after year at the division, conference, county and state level, but without any notable returners from the 2006 squad, it seemed like a rebuilding year was in the works for North. However, with a top five of four freshmen and a junior in her first year with the sport, the Mariners shocked the Shore by becoming the area's top team by season's end. Ytreboe has long been recognized among his peers as getting the most out of his teams. The fall of 2007, a season in which he also had the reins of the boys' program handed to him less than a month before the season began, may be his best work to date.

Team Of The Year

Toms River North - The Mariners broke away from the pack of talented Shore Conference teams to assert itself as the Shore's best by season's end. Toms River North won the Group IV championship for the first time since 1979. A fifth-place finish for the Mariners at the Meet of Champions was tops among local teams. Toms River North also claimed victory at the South Jersey Group IV Championships after a third-place showing in the conference and runner-up in the county meets.
