Golfer of the Year

 

Ryan McCormick, Mater Dei

  • The Seraphs freshman placed in the top eight in all four tournaments he entered.

  • Shot a 75 at the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions to place second in Non-Public B and eighth overall. His score was tops among Shore Conference golfers.

  • Carded a 78 to place third in the Shore Conference Tournament.

  • Fourth at the Monmouth County Tournament with a 77.

  • Fifth in the Non-Public South B Tournament with a 78.

  • Was a member of the Monmouth County team for the Jersey Shore Challenge Cup and was victorious in his singles match.


Coach of the Year

 

Brian Parks, Colts Neck

  • Guided the Cougars to a 20-3 record and a share of the Class A North division title with Marlboro.

  • Saw his squad defeat Christian Brothers Academy in match play, a team that finished third in the state and won the Shore Conference Tournament.

  • Colts Neck also finished second in the Monmouth County Tournament and third in the Shore Conference Tournament.

  • Also placed third in the NJSIAA Central-South Jersey Group IV Tournament.

  • Won the Freehold Regional District Tournament.


Mike Desero, Marlboro

  • The Mustangs senior won the Monmouth County Tournament with an even-par 72 at Hominy Hill.

  • Also led Marlboro to the team title at the MCT.

  • Finished third at the Wall Invitational with a 75.

  • Tied for ninth at the Shore Conference Tournament with an 81.

  • Carded an 81 to tie for seventh in the NJSIAA Central-South Jersey Group IV Tournament.

  • Won his singles match as a member of the Monmouth County squad in the Jersey Shore Challenge Cup.

  • Helped the Mustangs claim a share of the Class A North division title.

  • Will attend Methodist University.


Greg Mergel, Wall

  • Led the Shore Conference in regular-season birdies with 31 during his senior year.

  • Carded a 74 to finish second at the Wall Invitational.

  • Second at the Monmouth County Tournament with a 75.

  • Tied for ninth at the Shore Conference Tournament and was 11th at the Central-South Jersey Group III Tournament.

  • Led the Crimson Knights to a 20-1 record and the Class B North division championship.

  • Will attend the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, SC for a postgraduate year.


Brendan O'Brien, Christian Brothers Academy

  • The sophomore carded a 78 to win the NJSIAA Non-Public A Tournament and also helped the Colts capture the Non-Public A team title for the second year in a row and finish third in the state.

  • Tied teammate Tom Gliozzo for first at the Shore Conference Tournament with a 77, but placed second via a match of cards.

  • Contributed to CBA's defense of the SCT team title.

  • Had a nine-hole stroke average of 39.


Tom Gliozzo, Christian Brothers Academy

  • The senior won the Shore Conference Tournament with a 77 and also helped the Colts defend their SCT team title.

  • Tied for 12th at the Monmouth County Tournament with a 79.

  • Carded an 80 to place second in the NJSIAA Non-Public A Tournament. That score helped CBA capture the Non-Public A team title for the second consecutive year.

  • Won his singles match in the Jersey Shore Challenge Cup while playing for the Monmouth County squad.

  • Maintained a 36.1 scoring average per nine holes and played six rounds under par in match play.
