High School Nationals expected to be hot!

Southern's Jill Smith looks to add to her growing list of accomplishments this weekend in North Carolina
This weekend in Greensboro, N.C., at North Carolina A&T University, the high school track & field world is expected to heat up one last time this season.  It is the place where the Nike Nationals Track & Field Championships are held and athletes from all over the United States and Canada will face-off to see who is respectively the best in each event.  New Jersey will send some of the finest young men and women we have to offer to this prestigious event.
I myself, Darren, have watched New Jersey HS track & field for many many years and have watched
New Jersey send some of the world's best forth.  Greats such as, Frank Budd, Olympic gold medalist & former world record holder at 100yds. Ron Freeman, member of the first sub three minute mile relay in Mexico City.  Renaldo Nehemiah, possibly the best hurdler of all time and the first to break the 13 second barrier in the hurdles both in high school and international ranks before track became a sport with professionals.  And of course, Carl Lewis, long jump great as well as sprinter who dominated the sprints for 10 long years.  Yes the little state of New Jersey has produced such track powerhouses as these and many many more.
      This weekend in
Greensboro, NC a few more are expected to rise as others around the world are blazing their paths as I write this page.  It will be my pleasure to report on all the rising stars from New Jersey as well as the United States and abroad.  I know that their are many track & field followers who will appreciate this.  Beginning with the this event in North Carolina look forward to reporting on local Shore Conference athletes as well as those who have left us to pursue a collegiate career.
I would like to conclude by saying the track & field world can look forward to my take on track here at Digital Sports and I would like to take this time to welcome you to Darren's Notebook!
