Cavs Lead After Day One

CH's Hill, JR's Austin nip and tuck

In its 31st straight Central Region tournament, Clover Hill showed its just not there to extend a streak.

Behind's Dan Hill's day-one best 71 (even par), the Cavaliers (303) hold a 13-stroke lead over Deep Run after the first day at Jefferson-Lakeside Country Club Monday. The four scoring Cavs were all in the 70s with Hill, Allan Day (76), Logan Vidal (77) and Matt Morrow (79).

Matt Bush (75) and Zach Schwab (79) are keeping Deep Run (316) close.

In the individual competition, James River's Nick Austin shot a 1-over 72, one stroke behind Hill. Dinwiddie's Viviana Perez put up a 79, best for the females and one of the best scores, period.

"The putting wasn't as quite as good as it could have been," Austin said. "I had a couple lip out. But other than that, a pretty solid day."
