Kyle Parker

Boys Tennis

Vitals:

School  Mills Godwin
Year  Sophomore
Position  No. 1 for the Eagles in both seasons.
Height  5'10"
Performance:

Parker beat Deep Run??s Eric Shulman in three sets after facing two match points down 6-4 in the third-set tiebreaker. ??I like the pressure,? Parker said laughing. ??I was just thinking what am I going to tell my friends tomorrow at school??

Season Stats:

Unbeaten in singles (9-0) and doubles.

Best Attribute:

??I think my aggressiveness probably. My serve??s gotten a lot better since last year. My forehand is actually my best stroke.?

Something Most
Wouldn't Know:

??I like to play any sports possible. This weekend, I played 10 hours of baseball with my friends. I played JV basketball last year. I like to play pretty much anything. Any type of sport that??s competitive.? Parker was the starting shooting guard for the Eagles?? JV basketball team, averaging nine points per game. ??I think I??m going to concentrate on tennis my junior year. But I may play my senior year.?

Future:

??I definitely want to play Division I tennis. Particularly, maybe the ACC. Like [Virginia] Tech, Clemson. Or Georgia, Alabama [in the SEC]. They??re good.?

Coach's Quote:

??I think his potential is he could be as good as anybody we??ve had. But he??s still got a long way to go.? ?? Tom Hoy, Mills Godwin coach

Toughest
Match:

??I have to say the Deep Run match. I got off to a little rough start. I had a lot of people come out and watch me. I think I got a little nervous. I was down 4-1 in the third set. I said, ??Wow I need to definitely step this up.?? I think I was little too anxious going for shots at the beginning.?
