Evansville Memorial defeated Columbus North 1-0 in the Evansville boys' soccer semistate championship game Oct. 25.

In a so-far scoreless game (almost 6 minutes into the second half), Memorial's Max Lachowecki scored a much needed goal. His teammate, Tyler Vieth, sent him the pass that he would run 35 yards for the goal. If the Tigers could just hold Columbus North a few more minutes, they would make state for the fourth year in a row.

And that's just what happened.

The state-ranked No. 1 Tigers are 21-0-2, and they are ready for their shot at another state championship.

Although their next opponent has yet to be determined because of a weather delay at the Fort Wayne Snider semistate, the Tigers will play in the state semifinals Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis.
