Third-ranked Franklin Community opened its home season in a new facility by hosting Roncalli. The Rebels came out strong in Game 1, but the Grizzly Cub attackers wore the Rebel defense down as the Cubs (3-2) took the match in straight games. Stat leaders for the Cubs were Gabehart (M) with 15 kills and 10 digs, Binder (L) with 10 digs, Coffman (M) with four block stuffs and nine kills, and Conoley (OH) with nine kills. In the junior varsity match, Roncalli won 25-13, 25-22.

Franklin Community (4-2) played poor team volleyball in Game 2 against visiting Lawrence Central but managed to edge the victory in extra points before finished off the Bears. The JV Cubs earned their first victory by defeating the Bears in 3 games. In the junior varsity match, the Grizzly Cubs (1-4) showed huge progress in earning a 13-25, 25-24, 15-2 victory with tenacity and hard work.

Second-ranked Franklin Community traveled to No. 9 Carmel for the first meeting between the teams of the season. Coming out sluggish and tentative, the visiting Grizzly Cubs were quickly defeated in Game 1. In Game 2, the Cubs and Greyhounds fought a tight race to 25, with the ’Hounds prevailing. But Franklin (5-2) got on a roll with great teamwork and communication to take Games 3-5 for the victory. Game leaders for the Cubs were Nicodemus (s) with 33 assists, Gabehart (m) with 15 kills, 10 digs, and three aces, Calvert (ds) with eight digs, and Coffman (m) with nine kills. The Cubs are in action again April 3, when they will host Columbus North at 6 p.m. ET.

The second-ranked Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs were led by Gabehart (13 kills, three blocks, two aces, eight digs), Conoley (eight kills, four blocks), and Calvert (four aces, seven digs) in improving to 7-2. The JV Cubs were also victorious in their first match in two weeks, winning in a thrilling three games to bump their season record to 2-4.

Franklin Community handily defeated host Wapahani and Fort Wayne Northrop prior to the big match of the day against top-ranked defending state champion Indianapolis Cathedral. In a hotly contested match, the second-ranked Grizzly Cubs (10-3) fell shy in their upset bid after two long games. Tournament leaders for Franklin were Gabehart (20 kills, 20 digs), Conoley (14 kills), and Nicodemus (50 assists, five aces). The JV Cubs, meanwhile, were defeated by the Fighting Irish in both matches, dropping their season record to 3-6. Both teams return to action April 16 at Lawrence North.

Franklin Community hosted the 4th Annual Friday Night Triangle, with the second-ranked host defeating both Fishers and No. 8 Zionsville in straight games to improve to 12-4. In the Zionsville matchup, FCHS scored seven aces as Gabehart added seven kills and Nicodemus had 18 assists. In the Fishers matchup, FCHS was led by Gabehart with six blocks, Binder with six digs, Conoley with six kills, and Nicodemus again with 18 assists. In the Junior Varsity Triangle, Columbus North went 2-0 (defeating Zionsville 25-14, 24-25, 15-12 and the host Grizzly Cubs 25-22, 25-20) while Franklin (4-8) beat Zionsville 25-20, 22-25, 15-10 in the other match.
