The Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association has released its All-State and Academic All-State boys golf teams for the 2008 season. The group also named Avon’s Brent Sailor as coach of the year as well as two new inductees into the sport’s Hall of Fame, Craig Bowden and Kirk Schooley.

Coach of the Year: Brent Sailor, Avon
The Indiana High School Golf Coaches Hall of Fame inductees:
Craig Bowden a 1986 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence who played college golf at the University of Indianapolis and earned junior college All-American honors at Vincennes University. Bowden turned pro in 1989 and has been a touring professional since. He has won the Indiana Open two times and has won three times on the Nationwide Tour. He has played 125 PGA Tour events, including several U.S. Opens and more than 200 Nationwide events. He has won over $2 million on tour.
Kirk Schooley, a graduate of Columbus North, was a two-time All-State selection while a Bull Dog. Kirk was a two-time MVP and standout golfer for Ball State. His six collegiate victories ranks him third in Ball State history. He was the 1983 Mid-American Conference Sportsman of the Year and an honorable mention All-American that same year. After winning the 1983 MAC championship as an individual, Kirk led the Cardinals to an 18th-place finish in the NCAA Championships. Kirk is now head professional at Juniper Hills Golf Course in Frankfort, Ky.
