1. CENTER GROVE REGIONAL
Top-ranked Indianapolis Cathedral rights the ship in the postseason’s middle round, setting a new regional record by four shots in shooting a 283 (Center Grove shot 287 in 2003) to top a loaded field June 11 at Hickory Stick Golf Club. The defending state champion Fighting Irish take the team title by 11 strokes over runner-up No. 3 Brebeuf, with defending state runner-up No. 2 Avon another two shots back in third to also advance. Cathedral puts three golfers in the top four spots, led by the medalist-winning 67 of defending individual state champ Corey Ziedonis.

Homestead’s Michael Jenkins wins a tiebreaker over Austin Stonebraker of Fort Wayne Dwenger for medalist honors  after each shoots a 75.

Unranked Twin Lakes holds off fellow unranked runner-up West Lafayette by five shots, with No. 10 host Lafayette Jefferson one stroke back and just two shots ahead of No. 25 Lebanon for the final advancing spot June 12 at Battle Ground Golf Course. Blake Russell of Twin Lakes defeats Ben-Marvin Egel of Northwestern in a medalist tiebreaker after each shoots a 72.

Fifth-ranked Carmel posts a 298 to topple runner-up No. 7 Hamilton Southeastern by two shots for the crown, with No. 14 Yorktown holding off hard-luck No. 4 Norwell by five strokes for the third and final advancing spot June 12 at The Players Club. Patrick Kundenrich of Yorktown shoots a 70 to defeat three other golfers by a single shot for medalist honors.

“We were extremely pleased with today’s outcome,” said Carmel coach Chad Carr. “I told our players that we would have to bring our ‘A’ game today and hope that our scores would be good enough to advance. We are eager to continue our play into the state tournament.”
