The Black River Girls soccer team posted its third shut out off the season over a young Long Trail team. Seven unanswered goals provided too much for a Long Trail team that had its hands full defending against the experienced Black River team. Courtney Rohrig opened up the shortly after the six minute mark unassisted. She would go on to collect two more goals for the hat trick and two assists. Hannah Josselyn provided some offensive power of her own matching Courtney with three goals and two assists. Kit Kat Thompson scored her first goal of the season on a shot from 18 yards out drilled low past the Lynx goalkeeper. While the offense provided the fire power up front the midfield and defense did their job by shutting down any counter attacking possibilities and denying Long Trail very little possesion over half field. Balck River defensive backs, Katie ONeil, Tina Valente, Amanda Chambers and Sarah Hawkins were solid in the back and got support from Molly Harrison, Erica Benson, Ashley Billings and Angie Valente. Midfielders Sandy Roundy, Destiny Cucullo, Renee Seyller and Kit Kat Thompson were supported by Rachel Brzoza, Katie MacPherson, Holly Cloutier and Gabe Macklin. Kaitelynd Palmer spelled Zoe Trimboli in the nets late in the second half to help seal the shutout. The win gives the Presidents a 6-0 record and they next travel to play Sharon Academy on Monday Sept.22nd.
