The rivalry was renewed tonight as the fellas took on Miami High and unleashed the Wildcat as CG won 27-6 and kept the playoff hopes alive. RB Shaquille Cooper ran for 130 yards on 10 carries and 2 touchdowns and was named player of the game. RB Jarvis Bridge ran for 163 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. QB Pat McCain caught his 1st career pass with a 10 yards throw from Jarvis Bridge on Wildcat and JV RB Antwon Headache Buruey made his Varsity debut with 3 ayrds rushing on 2 carries late in the 4th quarter. The scoring began with Shaq Cooper finding a hole in the o-line and ran 21 yards to the house. Extra point was good. 7-0 CG. Next CG possession stalled and Gonzalo Mora nailed a 30 yard field goal. 10-0 CG. Next CG possession stalled again and Gonzalo Mora drilled a 33 yard field goal from the right hash. 13-0 CG. No scoring took place in the 2nd quarter so it remained 13-0 CG at the half. In the 3rd quarter, Jarvis Bridge took the direct snap out of Wildcat and went in to the endzone from 6 yards out. Extra point was good. 20-0 CG. Shaq Cooper took the handoff from Jarvis Bridge, found a seam, and went 23 yards to the house. Extra point was good. 27-0 CG. The shutout was about to be preserved until 10 seconds left in the game when Miami High backup QB Bruno Jean tossed to WR Marvin Burden at the 10 yard line, missed a defender, and went in for the 45 yard touchdown. Extra point was wide right. Final score: CG 27, Miami High 6. A total of 296 yards rushing as a team was recorded in the victory. Defensively, the fellas allowed only 42 yards on the ground but they got destroyed in the air as they allowed 202 yards passing. Next game is Friday at 4:00 vs. Coral Park at Tropical.
