Our Lord has provided a great opportunity for us to witness through our Baseball Team the past two weeks and we have another great opportunity this week. Many people in the community are enamored with how this team has come out of no-where to knock off the big boys to go to state. I was struck by the comments of the Central Hardins coach in the Courier-Journal after Thursdays clinching game; They''re full of timely hits. They must have a box of them in their dugout somewhere, and they just grab them. I''d like to know where they order them." I dont know about ordering hits although I am sure there were prayers being lifted up when Andy Wood was facing a two-strike count with two outs in the bottom of the 7th on Wednesday night! I am also confident that our players know that they can do all things through their Lord who strengthens them! Its been a joy to see them come together as a team during this run. Good luck on Thursday gentlemen as youve truly turned into our boys of summer! We already have projects underway and/or completed at our field complex. This past week, thanks to Andy Windhorst, a new PA system was installed for our stadium. Expect to hear much better quality and clarity this fall! Also begun this week and scheduled to be completed this coming week is renovation of our football practice field. As many of you may be aware, we have removed the trailers serving as temporary locker rooms and graded that area to extend our practice area. In addition, our Discus and Shot Put pits have been moved and will be viewable from the stadium. As they are putting the finishing touches on the new sprinkler system, this new field looks awesome! It will be seeded this coming week and should be ready for fall practice. A special thank you to the following people for their contributions in making this happen: Coach Dan English who had the vision and is seeing this through. Steve Allen Allied Concrete Paul Hurst Completed the concrete flatwork and grading Paul Parker Designed and supervised installation of the sprinkler system Andy Windhorst Wired sprinkler system Keith Griffee and Harry Nurse for their assistance and support of our CAL athletic program Many players, coaches, and especially parents who have donated their time to install the piping for the sprinkler system. It is with much appreciation and gratitude that I can again say that you are making CAL the Place to Be!! Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Grace and Peace, Steve Shubert Athletic Director
