About the Unsung Heroes Award Program
Since 1940, McCormick and Company, Inc., has honored Baltimore area youth through the Unsung Heroes Award Program. Founded by Charles P. McCormick, then-President & CEO of McCormick, the program recognizes athletes for unselfish team play and highlights the effects of those who contribute substantially to the success of their teams without acclaim. Every May, McCormick holds a banquet to acknowledge the students who were selected as their school’s Unsung Hero.
At the event, two of the Unsung Heroes – one representing male football nominees and one representing female basketball nominees – will receive special recognition when the Charles Perry McCormick Scholarship Award winners are announced. This scholarship was established in 1969 and is currently valued at $36,000. Both winners will receive $9,000 per year for each of their four academic years.
