Annemarie Cole scored two goals as Mills Godwin defeated Lee-Davis 5-0 at home on Wednesday night.

The Eagles, ranked second in the DigitalSports Top 10, beat powerhouse and preseason No. 1 Atlee 3-0 on Tuesday and have now scored a total of eight goals in two games.

The scoring for Mills Godwin started just ten minutes into the match when junior forward Anne Lumpkin clipped a through ball over the back line of the Lee-Davis defense to senior forward Cole. Cole then slipped the ball pass the goalie and into the net for a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles would score minutes later when they were awarded a free kick ten yards outside the No. 8 Confederates’ box.

On the kick Lumpkin hit a hard shot past Lee-Davis goalie Janie Evans to put the Eagles up 2-0 going into halftime.

The scoring continued for Mills Godwin in the second half as they netted three more goals.

Cole began the scoring once again and just minutes later sophomore forward Becca Haislip blasted a shot from just inside the Lee-Davis box into the back of the net putting the Eagles up 4-0.

Late in the game, it would be Godwin senior midfielder Ashley Lewis who would score the final goal of the match as her cross attempt from the right side went over the head of the Lee-Davis goalkeeper and into the net.

Lee-Davis senior forward Kimmy Cummings made some good runs up top for the Confederates but was unable to penetrate the defense as the Eagles’ back line did an outstanding job of not allowing a single goal.

Mills Godwin improved their record to 5-0 and Lee-Davis dropped to 1-1.
