Week 2 Top 10 Plays
No. 10 — Chris Crossed

Edison senior athlete Chris Washington was all over the Eagles one-point win Friday. He had a game-high five receptions for 90 yards, returned an interception 31 yards for a touchdown and was on the receiving end of a successful 4th-and-19 conversion. Still, his highlight of the night came on this helmet-popping hit on a Centreville receiver.

No. 9 –Jackson Six
South County held Washington-Lee to 60 total yards Friday. Stallion senior defensive back Gabe Jackson provided the exclamation point with this 81-yard interception return for a score that started the running clock.

No. 8 –Stalcup Overfloweth
Late in the first half, Marshall quarterback Justin Stalcup put Marshall on the board against Stuart with this uber-athletic, 12-yard touchdown run that had him running in circles and the defense — unsuccessfully — pursuing.

No. 7 –Hauter Limits
With two minutes left in the second quarter, South Lakes junior Seth Hauter took this Jefferson punt 58 yards to pay dirt. The Seahawks won, 41-0.

No. 6 –– Special Special Teams
Zanellato Punt Block TD

Robinson junior Matt Zanellato cemented the Rams’ win over the rival Rebels by scooping this blocked punt by sophomore Ethan Steen and returning it 18 yards for a score with 2:07 remaining.

Ridin’ Doty
With 2:47 left in the first half, Westfield led West Potomac by just seven points. But the game swung on this blocked punt by senior Dylan Doty that senior Vinny Caporossi recovered in the end zone to double the margin before halftime. The Bulldogs cruised to a 35-14 win.

No. 5 –Reverse Statue of Liberty — TWICE
McLean nearly pulled the upset of the young season at Herndon, ultimately falling, 28-21. During its upset bid, the Highlanders used a pair of trick plays involving senior running back Riley Beiro. He scored twice on reverse Statue of Liberty hand-offs.

No. 4 — Sirhan Read, React
Stuart sophomore Ayman Sirhan read this Marshall pitch play like an open book. Sirhan broke through the line unimpeded, intercepted the pitch and scooped the ball for a 62-yard fumble return touchdown.

No. 3Too Easy for Drizzy
In its 40-35 win over Hayfield, Lee rode senior running back Idreis Augustus for 13 carries, 281 yards and three scores. All three touchdowns were longer than 63 yards.

No. 2 — Out of the Woods’on
Trailing Lake Braddock by seven points with 1:06 left, Woodson senior Connor Reilly hit James Johnson for an 89-yard screen pass touchdown. Instead of kicking a game-tying extra point, the Cavaliers went for two and the win. Reilly, falling backwards, hit senior tight end Josh Hogan for the game-winning two-point pass.

No. 1 –Leonard Game-Winning Blocked Extra Point
Oakton led West Springfield by one in overtime pending this extra point. But Cougar senior — and returning all-state defensive back — Andrew Leonard comes around the edge untouched for this blocked game-winning extra point.
