No. 10 — Cook-ing the D
W.C.A.C., Va./Md./D.C. — In the D.C. City title game, Stag sophomore Quinn Cook spins, dribbles into traffic and converts an up-and-under in DeMatha’s 55-48 win over Ballou.

No. 9 — No Kain, No Gain
Loudoun County, Virginia — Raider junior Alissa Kain erupted for 14 of her game-high 23 points in the third quarter of the Loudoun County 63-47 win over Turner Ashby in the Virginia AA Group 4 championship game. The Raiders won the school’s first-ever — and County’s second-ever — boys’ or girls’ state basketball title.

No. 8 — Alexander Slam Bell
Northern Region, Virginia — Robinson, ranked No. 2 in the nation by ESPNRise, won its season-opening game at Woodson, 2-0. Senior midfielder Connor Alexander cemented the victory with this 18-yard, left-footed blast in the 53rd minute.

No. 7 — Cougar Carnival
Northern Region, Virginia
— In the Virginia AAA state final, Oakton shattered the state
tournament record by sinking 14 3-pointers in its championship game
loss to Princess Anne. The Cougars tied the previous record — nine —
in their state quarterfinal win.

No. 6 — City Title HD
D.C.I.A.A., Washington, DC — Warrior junior Ronika Ransford, held to two first-half points, exploded for 19 more after halftime as H.D. Woodson captured the grils’ D.C. City Title, 61-43, over Good Counsel.

No. 5 — Five for Fighting
Prince George’s County, Maryland — At UMBC on Saturday, Eleanor Roosevelt won its fifth-consecutive girls’ Maryland 4A State championship, 67-39, over Blake. Raider senior Olivia Applewhite had 22 points and 11 rebounds in the final, both game-highs.

No. 4 — Sound of the Smiths
Northern Region, Virginia — Robinson junior Jensen Smith played hero in the 83rd minute of overtime in her team’s first game at Woodson. However, Cavalier sophomore Kaitlin Brooks netted the equalizer four minutes later to claim a point against the defending state champion Rams, ranked No. 3 in the nation.

No. 3 — Blue Devils’ Advocate   1  2  3
Montgomery County, Maryland — For the first time since 1968, there is a repeat state champion in the Maryland 4A classification. Springbrook (27-0) led by senior Jamal Olasewere, who recorded double-doubles in the state semifinals and finals, beat Wise, 73-61, in the title game.

No. 2 — Let Freedom Ring
Loudoun County, Virginia — Entering Saturday, no Loudoun County high school had won a boys’ or girls’ state basketball championship game. But in the 11 a.m. Virginia AA Group 3 girls’ final, Freedom ended the slump. Eagle junior Kelsey Buchanan record a triple-double — 11 points, 21 rebounds and 10 blocks — in Freedom’s 58-33 win over Lee-Staunton.

No. 1 — Do You Believe in Life After Glove
Prince George’s County, Maryland — In the Maryland 2A State semifinal, Douglass freshman Kavon Glover brought the crowd to its feet with this baseline steal, leap from outside the paint and jam over a Wicomico would-be defender for a dunk-and-one. The Eagles took out the Indians, 87-69, to reach the 2A finals.
